Hu Recom IGF-I, ACF, 100 µg

Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-I) from STEMCELL Technologies is a recombinant human polypeptide belonging to the insulin-like growth factor family and sharing molecular similarity with proinsulin. The cytokine binds the IGF-I receptor and acts as a potent activator of the PI3K/AKT pathway while also engaging ERK1/2 signaling. IGF-I is required for embryonic development and is produced mainly in the liver in response to hepatocyte growth hormone. In the absence of insulin, IGF-I is necessary for the maintenance of human pluripotent stem cells. Together with IL-3, IGF-I stimulates the differentiation and proliferation of myeloid cells and has been shown to regulate lymphopoiesis by promoting the proliferation and differentiation of T and B cells in lymphoid organs.

Manufactured as an animal component-free preparation, the product is produced in E. coli and supplied lyophilized from a sterile-filtered aqueous solution containing 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. Purity is ≥ 95%. Specific activity is ≥ 6.7 x 10^5 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 1.5 ng/mL), as determined by a cell proliferation assay using MCF-7 cells. Endotoxin level, measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis, is ≤ 0.1 EU/μg protein. The vial should be stored at -20 to -80 °C; the product is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt.
