Hu Recom HGF, 10 µg

STEMCELL Technologies supplies a Human Recombinant Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) expressed in CHO cells. HGF is a pleiotropic growth factor that promotes proliferation, motility, survival, and differentiation. It binds and promotes the dimerization and activation of the receptor tyrosine kinase c-MET, and stimulates PI3K/AKT, FAK, JNK, and ERK1/2 signaling. HGF stimulates cell migration during embryogenesis, induces cell motility and scattering of epithelial cells, and regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition. It acts as a chemoattractant for motor neurons and regulates the development of sensory, sympathetic, parasympathetic, and cortical neurons, as well as oligodendrocyte proliferation and glial development. HGF is also cytoprotective and regulates liver growth and regeneration.

The lyophilized preparation is ≥ 95% pure, with a predicted molecular mass of 88 - 90 kDa (single chain), 59 - 61 kDa (alpha chain), or 30 - 34 kDa (beta chain), and carries UniProt accession P14210. Specific activity is ≥ 1 x 10^5 units/mg, determined by a cell proliferation assay using 4MBr5 cells, with an EC50 ≤ 10 ng/mL (example EC50 = 7.2 ng/mL). The protein is reactive with mouse and rat samples. Endotoxin content is ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein by kinetic LAL analysis. The vial is centrifuged before opening and the product is resuspended in sterile water or phosphate-buffered saline to at least 0.1 mg/mL by pipetting down the sides of the vial; do not vortex. The lyophilized product is stored at -80°C and is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt.
