From STEMCELL Technologies, this Human Recombinant HBEGF is a laboratory reagent intended for research use. The protein activates the PI3K/AKT signaling cascade and stimulates the migration and proliferation of keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and smooth muscle cells.

Biological activity is verified by its ability to promote proliferation of 3T3 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay method. In the example assay, the EC50, defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is less than 0.75 ng/mL. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 9.7 kDa; 2 μg was resolved by SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions and visualized with Coomassie Blue staining.

According to the Safety Data Sheet, the product is not classified as a hazardous substance or mixture under the GHS or the 2012 OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
