From STEMCELL Technologies, Human Recombinant HBEGF activates the PI3K/AKT signaling cascade and stimulates the migration and proliferation of keratinocytes, fibroblasts, and smooth muscle cells.

Biological activity is determined by the protein's ability to promote proliferation of 3T3 cells, measured using a fluorometric assay, with an EC50 less than 0.75 ng/mL. The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 9.7 kDa and has been verified by SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions, visualized by Coomassie Blue staining.
