Hu Recom Follistatin, 20 µg

A recombinant human follistatin protein from STEMCELL Technologies, supplied as a purified, lyophilized preparation intended for research use only. Follistatin binds and inhibits the function of activin, myostatin, growth differentiation factors, and bone morphogenic proteins.

Biological activity was tested by neutralization of human activin A–induced cytotoxicity of MPC-11 cells, with cell viability measured after 66 hours using a fluorometric assay. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the protein at which cell viability is at 50% of maximum, and in this example was determined to be 0.04 μg/mL. Protein integrity was confirmed by resolving 1 μg on SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions with visualization by Coomassie Blue staining.

Suitable for biochemical assays, cell-culture modulation of activin/myostatin signaling, and mechanistic studies. Handle under sterile conditions, reconstitute as needed, store at ≤ −20 °C, and avoid repeated freeze–thaw cycles.
