Hu Recom FGF-acidic, 10 µg

STEMCELL Technologies supplies a human recombinant form of FGF-acidic, also described as basic fibroblast growth factor. The protein acts as a potent activator of DNA synthesis, cell proliferation, and chemotaxis, and has roles during development, regeneration, and angiogenesis.

Biological activity was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells in the presence of 10 μg/mL heparin, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and in the example shown is less than 0.3 ng/mL. When 2 μg of the protein was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining, it showed a predicted molecular mass of 15.8 kDa.

The product is intended for research use, including the differentiation of human ES or iPS cells into hematopoietic progenitor cells.
