A human recombinant FGF-9 from STEMCELL Technologies is a pleiotropic growth factor that affects the development of multiple organ systems. Biological activity was assessed by its ability to promote the proliferation of 3T3 cells, with proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay. The EC50, defined as the effective concentration at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, is less than 2 ng/mL. Analysis by SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions with Coomassie Blue staining indicates a predicted molecular mass of 23.4 kDa.
