STEMCELL Technologies is the manufacturer of Human Recombinant FGF-7 (KGF). FGF-7 stimulates the proliferation, migration, and differentiation of epithelial cells and participates in epithelial protection and repair.

Biological activity was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of 4MBr-5 cells, with cell proliferation quantified using a fluorometric assay method. EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation reaches 50% of maximum; in the cited example, the EC50 is less than 2 ng/mL.

SDS-PAGE analysis resolved 2 μg of FGF-7 (KGF) under reducing (+) and non-reducing (−) conditions, visualized by Coomassie Blue staining. FGF-7 (KGF) has a predicted molecular mass of 19 kDa. Referenced research applications include defined animal component-free medium for the differentiation of human ESCs and iPSCs to definitive endoderm, culture of human mammary epithelial cells, and defined, serum-free, xeno-free medium for pluripotent stem cells.
