Hu Recom FGF-7, ACF, 100 µg

STEMCELL Technologies supplies this animal component–free human recombinant Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 (FGF-7), a member of the FGF family expressed in E. coli and provided as a lyophilized preparation. Alternative names include HBGF-7, Heparin-binding growth factor 7, Keratinocyte growth factor, and KGF. The protein corresponds to Uniprot accession number P21781, has a predicted molecular mass of 19.1 kDa, and is formulated by lyophilization from a sterile-filtered solution containing sodium phosphate and sodium chloride at pH 7.5.

FGF-7 is produced solely by cells of mesenchymal origin and functions as a paracrine mediator of mesenchymal–epithelial communication, signaling exclusively through FGF receptor isoforms expressed predominantly by epithelial cells. It stimulates proliferation, migration, and differentiation of these cells and participates in epithelial protection and repair both in vitro and in vivo. FGF-7 has also been shown to supplement wound-healing properties of bioengineered skin, to induce autophagy in human keratinocytes, and to play a role in the differentiation of pluripotent stem cells into endodermal pancreatic-like insulin-producing cells and thymic epithelial cells. Cross-reactivity is reported to be species-specific.

Biological activity is determined by a cell proliferation assay using 4MBr-5 cells, yielding a specific activity of ≥ 1.7 x 10^4 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 60 ng/mL). Purity is ≥ 90% and endotoxin level is ≤ 1 EU/μg protein as measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis. The product should be stored at -20°C to -80°C and is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt. For research use only.
