Recombinant human Fibroblast Growth Factor 5 (FGF-5) from STEMCELL Technologies is supplied as a 100 µg lyophilized vial in an Animal Component-Free (ACF) format, manufactured in E. coli and guaranteed free of animal- or human-derived raw materials. The 252-amino-acid, 27.7 kDa monomer resolves at ≥95% purity by SDS-PAGE and carries endotoxin levels ≤1 EU/µg, making it appropriate for defined, xeno-free workflows such as feeder-free stem cell maintenance and serum-free differentiation protocols.

FGF-5 signals through FGFR1 and FGFR2 to drive downstream MAPK and PI3K cascades, supporting investigations into hair follicle cycling (the anagen-to-catagen transition), keratinocyte proliferation, skeletal muscle development, and neural lineage specification in limbic-system neurons including olfactory bulb and hippocampal pyramidal cells.
