Hu Recom FGF-18, 50 µg

Supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, this lyophilized human recombinant preparation of fibroblast growth factor 18 (FGF-18) is a member of the FGF subfamily. FGF-18 is most similar to FGF-8 and FGF-17 and is secreted in adult lung and developing tissues. The protein signals through FGF receptor 3 (FGFR3) to regulate proliferation, differentiation, and matrix production of articular and growth plate chondrocytes in vivo and in vitro, and has been reported to have skeletal functions, to protect adult articular cartilage by gene expression profiling, to regulate proliferation and differentiation of midline cerebellar structures, and recombinant human FGF-18 has been shown to effectively regulate hair growth.

Predicted molecular mass is 20.3 kDa (UniProt accession O76093) and purity is ≥ 95% as resolved by SDS-PAGE. The preparation is sourced from E. coli and supplied lyophilized after dialysis against phosphate-buffered saline. Specific activity is ≥ 1 x 10^5 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 10 ng/mL) as determined by a cell proliferation assay using BALB/c 3T3 cells. Endotoxin level is ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein as measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis. Cross-reactivity is reported with mouse and rat. The product is stored at -80°C and is stable as supplied for 12 months from the date of receipt. Reconstitution is performed in sterile water to at least 0.1 mg/mL; do not vortex.
