Hu Recom FGF-10 (KGF-2), 50 µg

From STEMCELL Technologies, this recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 10 (FGF-10), also known as KGF-2, is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family predominantly expressed by mesenchymal fibroblasts during embryonic development. The protein is supplied as a lyophilized powder prepared in E. coli and dialyzed against phosphate-buffered saline, with a reported purity of ≥ 95% by SDS-PAGE analysis.

FGF-10 binds with high affinity to fibroblast growth factor receptor 2-IIIb (FGFR2-IIIb) and shows weaker binding to FGFR1-IIIb. It shares similar receptor-binding properties and target-cell specificity with FGF-7 but is differentially regulated by components of the extracellular matrix. The factor has been shown to mediate epithelial-mesenchymal interactions required during lung development, to mobilize and promote proliferation of lung-resident mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in models of acute lung injury, and to support endodermal differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells toward insulin-producing pancreatic-like cells. Documented research applications span airway epithelial cell expansion, definitive endoderm differentiation of human ESCs and iPSCs, and culture of human mammary epithelial cells.

Key specifications include a predicted molecular mass of 19.3 kDa, a biological activity of ≥ 5 x 10^4 units/mg with an EC50 of ≤ 20 ng/mL in a 4MBr-5 cell proliferation assay, and an endotoxin level of ≤ 0.2 EU/μg protein by kinetic LAL analysis. Cross-reactivity is reported for mouse and rat. The lyophilized product should be stored at -80°C and is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt; the manufacturer recommends reconstituting in sterile water to at least 0.1 mg/mL without vortexing.
