Manufacturer product information states that EGFR signaling regulates cell proliferation, differentiation, motility, and apoptosis. The biological activity of the recombinant protein was tested by its ability to promote proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells in the presence of 25 pg/mL EGF, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay. The reported EC50 in this assay was 0.81 µg/mL. In SDS-PAGE analysis, 2 μg of the product was resolved under reducing and non-reducing conditions and visualised by Coomassie Blue staining; the predicted molecular mass is 69.4 kDa.
