STEMCELL Technologies provides Human Recombinant EGF, ACF. According to the manufacturer, EGF stimulates cell proliferation and differentiation in the intestine and promotes the proliferation of stem cells in the central nervous system.

Biological activity of this Human Recombinant EGF, ACF was assessed by its ability to promote the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells, with proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay method. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation reaches 50% of maximum; in the reported example this value is 0.0459 ng/mL.

For characterisation, 1 μg of Human Recombinant EGF, ACF was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions and visualised by Coomassie Blue staining.
