Hu Recom EGF, 100 µg

From STEMCELL Technologies, Human Recombinant EGF is a recombinant human epidermal growth factor supplied for research use only. It supports epithelial and stem cell proliferation, expansion of primary cells, and signaling studies in vitro. The product is provided as a lyophilized protein and should be reconstituted following the manufacturer's instructions. It should be stored frozen, with freeze–thaw cycles minimized to maintain activity.

The growth factor stimulates cell proliferation and differentiation in the intestine and stimulates proliferation of stem cells in the central nervous system. Biological activity was tested by its ability to promote the proliferation of BALB/c 3T3 cells, with cell proliferation measured using a fluorometric assay. The EC50 is defined as the effective concentration of the growth factor at which cell proliferation is at 50% of maximum, and in the reported example the EC50 is 0.1 ng/mL.

When 2 μg of Human Recombinant EGF was resolved with SDS-PAGE under reducing and non-reducing conditions and visualized by Coomassie Blue staining, the protein showed a predicted molecular mass of 6.2 kDa.
