Hu Recom bFGF, ACF, 100 µg

Basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) from STEMCELL Technologies is a recombinant human protein supplied in animal component-free form. Also known as FGF-β, FGF2, and HBGF-2, bFGF is a prototypical member of the fibroblast growth factor family, a group of cytokines with broad mitogenic and cell survival activities involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, survival, and apoptosis. The protein adopts a β-trefoil structure, binds the four FGF receptor (FGFR) family members, and activates JAK/STAT, PI3K, ERK1/2, and other receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) signaling pathways.

Reported research applications include supporting the maintenance of undifferentiated human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs), stimulating hPSCs to form neural rosettes, and improving proliferation and chondrogenic differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells. This version is the full-length bFGF protein encoded by the human FGF2 gene and consists of 154 amino acid residues (UniProt accession P09038). It is produced in E. coli and provided lyophilized from a sterile-filtered aqueous solution containing sodium phosphate and sodium chloride at pH 7.5. Specifications include a purity of ≥ 95%, an endotoxin level of ≤ 0.1 EU/μg protein as measured by kinetic Limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) analysis, and a specific activity of ≥ 2.0 x 10^6 units/mg (EC50 ≤ 0.5 ng/mL) determined by a cell proliferation assay using NR6R-3T3 cells; an example EC50 of 0.0507 ng/mL is shown in the manufacturer's data figure.

The vial should be centrifuged before opening and reconstituted in sterile water to at least 0.1 mg/mL by pipetting down the sides of the vial; do not vortex. Store at -20°C to -80°C; the product is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. For research use only.
