Hu/Ms Recom TGF-beta 3, ACF, 10 µg

A human recombinant growth factor supplied by STEMCELL Technologies, this animal component-free (ACF) preparation of TGF-β3 is a member of the TGF-β superfamily of signaling proteins (accession number P10600). The cytokine binds to serine/threonine kinase type I and II receptors and activates signal transduction through SMAD2/3 proteins, thereby regulating functions including cell proliferation, differentiation, wound healing, apoptosis, and metabolism.

Documented biological activities include enhancement of glycosaminoglycan production by mesenchymal stromal cells, promotion of scar-free healing, improvement of glucose tolerance together with phenotypic changes in adipocyte morphology, induction of proliferation of posterofrontal suture-derived mesenchymal stromal cells, and stimulation of fibroblast growth factors 2 and 18 expression. The protein is produced in E. coli and supplied as a sterile-filtered liquid formulated with 10 mM acetic acid and 20% ethanol. Purity is ≥ 95% and the endotoxin level is ≤ 1 EU/μg protein. Specific activity is ≥ 1.0 x 10^6 units/mg with an EC50 ≤ 1 ng/mL; in a representative inhibition of IL-4-induced HT-2 cell proliferation assay, the EC50 was 0.038 ng/mL.

The predicted molecular mass is 12.9 kDa (monomer) or 25.7 kDa (dimer), and cross-reactivity has been demonstrated with mouse, rat, pig, cow, and dog. The product should be stored at 2–8 °C, where it remains stable for 12 months from the date of receipt; vials should be centrifuged before opening, not vortexed, and not frozen. As an ACF reagent it is guaranteed free of animal or human components.
