Recombinant Human/Mouse BMP-2 (Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2) is a member of the TGF-β superfamily and a central driver in stem cell differentiation protocols, osteogenesis research, and chondrogenesis studies. This Animal Component-Free (ACF) formulation supports xeno-friendly cell culture workflows and reproducible results in bone tissue engineering and neural patterning experiments.

Each vial supplies 100 µg of lyophilized powder and is intended for research use only in in vitro applications, including directed differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), and embryonic stem cells. The ACF manufacturing process eliminates exposure to animal-derived materials, making the cytokine compatible with defined and serum-free media formulations as well as embryoid body culture systems.

STEMCELL Technologies validates each lot for purity and biological activity, supporting consistent performance in osteogenic induction assays, cartilage differentiation protocols, and ventral midbrain patterning experiments. Reconstitution typically uses sterile deionized water with 0.1% BSA as a carrier; reconstituted stocks should be aliquoted and stored frozen at -20°C to -80°C and protected from light to preserve bioactivity through repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Typical working concentrations in published protocols span 10 to 100 ng/mL depending on the target lineage, and researchers frequently pair BMP-2 with TGF-β3, FGF-2, or BMP-4 to direct osteogenic, chondrogenic, or neuronal differentiation outcomes in pluripotent culture systems.
