Gentra Puregene Blood Kit (120 ml)

QIAGEN's Gentra Puregene Blood Kit is part of the Puregene Kits family for flexible, manual genomic DNA purification, suitable for biobanking, genotyping, and workflows needing high DNA integrity. It is designed for small- to medium-scale isolation of high-molecular-weight genomic DNA from whole blood, buffy coat, and body fluid, using a modified salting-out precipitation method. The kit belongs to the Primary Sample Technology portfolio.

The scalable format accommodates a sample amount of 300 µl – 10 ml of whole blood (or 1 x 10^7 cells, or 50 µl – 1000 µl), with an elution volume of 250 µl – 1000 µl. Time per preparation is 25–60 minutes plus DNA rehydration. Typical yield is 35 µg per ml of whole blood. Purified genomic DNA performs reliably in PCR, restriction digest, Southern analysis, SNP analysis, sequencing, and long-term storage.

Isolated DNA typically shows an A260/A280 ratio between 1.7 and 1.9 and reaches up to 200 kb in size, indicating high molecular weight suited for archiving. The simple workflow requires no mixing or dilution of solutions and offers convenient stopping points for safe, temporary storage of partially purified samples. Final DNA preparations can be stored at 2–8°C, –20°C, or –80°C.
