EZ1 Advanced DNA Buccal Swab Card

This protocol card from QIAGEN is intended for use with the EZ1 Advanced instrument to automate the extraction of genomic DNA from buccal (cheek) swab samples. The card plugs into the instrument's card slot and pre-programs the purification protocol, removing the need for manual data entry. Combined with the appropriate EZ1 Kit, the card delivers reliable yields from low-input swab material and produces DNA compatible with routine molecular assays.

Processing is carried out with prefilled, foil-sealed reagent cartridges that remain sealed until the protocol run starts, reducing the risk of contamination during setup. Per the manufacturer's protocol combinations, buccal swab samples are processed with the EZ1 DNA Tissue Kit. The card works within the EZ1 Advanced platform's broader features, including UV decontamination, bar-code reading for tracking of samples and reagents, and automated generation of run reports that can be transferred to a LIMS. Protocols run from 1 to 6 samples per run in less than 20 minutes on the EZ1 Advanced, and up to four instruments can be connected to a single computer for expanded throughput.
