QIAGEN offers this preprogrammed protocol card for use with EZ1 Advanced XL workstations in forensic and human identification workflows. Inserted into the instrument's card slot, the card specifies a choice of purification protocols without any manual data entry, and works with the EZ1 DNA Investigator Kit to purify nucleic acids from forensic and human identity samples.

The card is formulated to maximize recovery from low-quantity and degraded samples commonly encountered in forensic casework, producing STR-compatible DNA suitable for forensic downstream applications. It is used together with prefilled, foil-sealed reagent cartridges that remain sealed until the instrument door is closed and the protocol run is started, reducing the risk of contamination during setup. On the EZ1 Advanced XL, runs of 1–14 samples complete in less than 20 minutes, and up to four EZ1 Advanced XL instruments can be connected to an external computer supplied by QIAGEN, expanding throughput to up to 56 samples per run.
