(-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate, 50 mg

From STEMCELL Technologies, (-)-Epigallocatechin Gallate is a small molecule for stem cell research. The compound acts as an antioxidant and epigenetic modifier, inhibiting DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) with a reported IC50 of 0.21 - 0.47 µM, and is described as the most abundant polyphenol catechin antioxidant present in green tea.

It is supplied as a crystalline solid with a purity of ≥ 98% and a molecular weight of 458.4 g/mol. Reported solubility limits are PBS (pH 7.2) ≤ 50 mM, DMSO ≤ 50 mM, and Ethanol ≤ 40 mM. The product is stable at -20°C as supplied, should be protected from prolonged exposure to light, and stored with a desiccant for long-term storage; it is stable as supplied for 12 months from date of receipt. For use as a cell culture supplement, stock solution should be diluted into culture medium immediately before use.

The compound inhibits bone resorption by inducing cell death of osteoclast-like multinucleated cells but not osteoblastic cells, and published studies include research on inhibiting growth and inducing apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells.
