Description

A lyophilized peptide pool from STEMCELL Technologies is intended for immune cell activation. It is a mixture of 59 peptides derived from the trans-activator protein BZLF1 of Epstein-Barr virus (strain B95-8), a DNA-binding protein that acts as a switch from latent to lytic infection. The pool consists of 15-mer peptides with 11-amino-acid overlaps covering amino acids 1 - 245 on BZLF1 (Swiss-Prot P03206).

The product is formulated as trifluoroacetate salts with an average purity of 70%. For reconstitution, the vial should first be warmed to room temperature (15 - 25°C), then dissolved in pure dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO; ~40 μL) and diluted with water to the desired concentration; the final DMSO concentration must be kept below 1% (v/v) to avoid toxicity in biological systems. According to the manufacturer, one unit is sufficient for stimulating 2.5 x 10^8 cells.

The product should be stored at -20°C and remains stable as supplied until the expiry date (EXP) on the label. Aliquots prepared for later use should also be stored at -20°C, protected from light, and not subjected to repeated freeze-thaw cycles. It is intended for research use only and not for human or animal diagnostic or therapeutic applications unless otherwise stated.
