dPCR Microbial DNA Detection Assays (200)

QIAGEN has developed a portfolio of digital PCR assays for the detection of microbial targets, including bacterial, fungal, parasitic, viral, antibiotic resistance and virulence factor genes. The portfolio consists of over 700 different assays, 200 of which are dPCR wet-lab tested, supporting microbial identification and profiling in fields such as human health, food and feed testing, and environmental testing. A variety of samples can be analyzed, including stool, sputum, vaginal swab, sewage and others.

Each assay consists of a primer pair and a hydrolysis probe with a configurable fluorophore dye. The available fluorophores include FAM, HEX, ROX, TAMRA, Cy5 and ATTO700, which can be combined to support analysis of up to twelve different targets in one multiplex dPCR reaction. Pre-designed wet-lab tested 5-plex assay bundles are available for common targets of interest. Bacterial assays target the 16S rRNA gene, while fungal assays target ribosomal RNA genes, with designs informed by databases including GreenGenes and NCBI type strain sequences.

The assays are intended for use with the QIAcuity Digital PCR System and QIAcuity Nanoplates. Depending on the target type, they are combined with the QIAcuity Probe PCR Kit (DNA targets), the QIAcuity OneStep Advanced Probe Kit (RNA targets), or the QIAcuity High Multiplex Probe PCR Kit (for more than five targets in one reaction). Partitioning, thermocycling and imaging are fully automated by the QIAcuity dPCR instrument, with results analyzable in the QIAcuity Software Suite after approximately two hours. A custom assay design tool is also offered for bacterial, fungal and viral targets not covered by the predesigned portfolio.
