DNeasy UltraClean Microbial Kit (50)

This kit from QIAGEN is designed to isolate high-quality genomic DNA from microbial cultures. Microbial cells are lysed by a combination of heat, detergent and mechanical force against specialized beads in PowerBead Tubes, and the released DNA is bound to a silica membrane in MB Spin Columns. After washing, the DNA is recovered in DNA-free Tris buffer. A variety of microorganisms, including bacterial and fungal spores, have been tested successfully with this kit, and an independent published protocol describes its use for extracting genomic DNA from dermatophytes of the genus Trichophyton.

Reagents and components can be stored at room temperature (15–25°C) until the expiration date printed on the box label. A vacuum-based protocol using the QIAvac 24 Plus Manifold is available for faster processing without centrifugation during the DNA-binding and column-washing steps. As with all DNeasy products from QIAGEN, the kit is intended for molecular biology applications and is not intended for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease.
