DNeasy PowerFood Microbial Kit (100)

QIAGEN's DNeasy PowerFood Microbial Kit isolates microbial DNA from complex food matrices, removing PCR-inhibiting compounds such as lipids and polysaccharides for downstream qPCR and genotyping. The kit uses Inhibitor Removal Technology (IRT) combined with reformulated buffers to provide high-quality, inhibitor-free DNA for use in molecular biology applications including PCR and qPCR.

The kit is designed to isolate genomic DNA from microorganisms cultured from food according to FDA guidelines (Bacteriological Analytical Manual, Edition 8, Revision A/1998). It is configured for a sample size of 1.8 ml cultured food or 0.25 g of food material, uses silica spin filter tubes with 0.15 mm garnet beads, and supports a throughput of 1–24 samples per run. Each prep has a binding capacity of up to 20 µg, with a run time of 25 minutes. Reagents and components can be stored at room temperature (15–25°C) until the expiration date printed on the box label; the manufacturer also specifies storage at 15–30°C.

The kit has been validated across a wide range of food products, including meats, dairy (milk, yogurt, cheese), juices, vegetables, fruits, chocolate, and washes, and has been used to isolate inhibitor-free DNA from pathogens including Clostridium difficile, Clostridium perfringens, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Lactobacillus sp., Listeria monocytogenes, and Salmonella enterica. Each lot is tested against predetermined specifications under QIAGEN's ISO-certified Quality Management System.
