DNeasy PowerFood Kit, 2 ml tubes (100)

From QIAGEN, the DNeasy PowerFood Microbial Kit is supplied with 2 ml bead tubes containing 0.15 mm garnet beads, a configuration suited to isolating microbial DNA from uncultured food. The kit uses silica spin filter tubes and incorporates an Inhibitor Removal Technology that strips PCR-inhibiting compounds, including lipids and polysaccharides, from complex food matrices, yielding DNA ready for downstream applications such as qPCR and genotyping.

Specifications include a sample size of 1.8 ml of cultured food or 0.25 g of food material, a throughput of 1-24 samples, a binding capacity of up to 20 µg per prep, and a processing time of 25 minutes per prep. Validated across a wide range of food products including meats, dairy products, fruits, vegetables and juices, as well as processed cultured foods, chocolate and washes (milk, yogurt, cheese), the kit isolates inhibitor-free DNA from pathogens such as Clostridium difficile, Clostridium perfringens, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Lactobacillus sp., Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella enterica. As a complete kit, no additional reagents or enzymes are required.

Storage is at room temperature (15-30°C). The kit was previously sold by MO BIO as the PowerFood Microbial DNA Kit.
