Delphinidin (chloride) is a flavonoid anthocyanidin reagent from STEMCELL Technologies, supplied as a 5 mg single-use vial of ≥97% purity crystalline solid with molecular formula C15H11ClO7 (MW 338.7 g/mol, CAS 528-53-0). The molecule shows UV/Vis absorption maxima at 276 nm, 345 nm, 352 nm, and 559 nm in acidified methanol, consistent with its deep blue-violet chromophore, and is documented as a potent inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR). In cancer research, the compound has been reported to induce G2-M phase arrest and apoptosis in human prostate cancer PC3 cells, and it is widely applied in antioxidant and reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging assays, NF-kB and Nrf2 signaling studies, and anti-inflammatory pathway work in cell culture workflows. The solid dissolves at 30 mg/mL in DMSO or DMF, with working solubility up to 85 mM in DMSO; a 10 mM stock is prepared by resuspending 1 mg in 295 uL of DMSO, and final vehicle concentration in culture should remain below 0.1% to avoid cell toxicity. Each vial supports multiple in vitro dose-response experiments at micromolar working concentrations and should be stored at -20°C, protected from light, with a 12-month shelf life from the date of receipt.
