CoV-2 Rec N Protein (HEK) 1000ug

A recombinant SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein from STEMCELL Technologies, expressed in HEK293 cells and spanning amino acids Met1–Ala419. It is one of four structural proteins encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 genome, transcribed from the viral "N" gene, and functions by interacting with RNA to form the nucleocapsid. The protein forms a homo-oligomer, and both the monomer and oligomer can interact with RNA. It also interacts with the membrane (M) protein after host-cell infection, during packaging of the positive-strand viral genome RNA into the ribonucleocapsid during virion assembly.

Alternative names include Nucleocapsid protein, NC, Protein N, and N Protein (UniProt accession P0DTC9). The protein has a predicted molecular mass of 47.0 kDa and shows an observed band size of ~50 kDa by SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, with purity ≥ 90%. Activity data are not available.

The product is supplied as a lyophilized powder from a 0.2 μm-filtered solution containing Tris-HCl, NaCl, and trehalose at pH 7.4. Centrifuge the vial before opening and reconstitute in sterile water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL by pipetting the solution down the sides of the vial; do not vortex. Store reconstituted product at 2–8°C for up to 1 week. Unopened vials should be stored at -20°C to -80°C and are stable until the expiry date on the label. For research use only.
