CoV-2 Rec N Prot, His (Ecoli) 100ug

A recombinant nucleocapsid protein derived from the novel human coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2/2019-nCoV), expressed in E. coli and supplied by STEMCELL Technologies. The protein spans amino acids Met1-Ala419 and carries a thrombin site, a T7 tag, and a polyhistidine tag at its amino terminus. It is transcribed from the viral "N" gene and represents one of four structural proteins encoded by the SARS-CoV-2 genome.

The nucleocapsid protein interacts with RNA to form the nucleocapsid and functions as a homo-oligomer, with both the monomer and the oligomer capable of RNA binding. During virion assembly, the protein interacts with the membrane (M) protein to package the positive-strand viral genome RNA into the ribonucleocapsid. Its predicted molecular mass is 48.0 kDa, the observed SDS-PAGE band is ~50 kDa, and purity is ≥ 90% by SDS-PAGE.

The product is lyophilized from a solution containing Tris-HCl, NaCl, and trehalose at pH 8.0. Before opening, the vial should be centrifuged and the contents reconstituted in sterile water to 0.1 - 1.0 mg/mL without vortexing; sterilization by 0.2 μm filtration is recommended, and reconstituted material can be stored at 2 - 8°C for up to 1 week. Unopened vials should be kept at -20°C to -80°C and remain stable until the expiry date on the label.
