CompactPrep Plasmid Midi Kit (25)

From QIAGEN, the CompactPrep Plasmid Midi Kit enables fast, large-scale purification of molecular biology grade plasmid or cosmid DNA. Designed for manual processing by centrifugation and vacuum, the kit uses a silica spin column format that allows up to 24 samples to be handled in parallel on a single workbench, with each prep completing in less than 20 minutes and full runs finishing within 60 minutes.

The Midi Kit purifies up to 200 µg of plasmid DNA from 25 ml of high-copy or 50 ml of low-copy LB culture. DNA is eluted in 100 µl at typical concentrations of 1–2 µg/µl. A nonchaotropic binding chemistry keeps the preparation volume at miniprep scale, and all post-lysis steps can be performed at the bench using a vacuum manifold such as the QIAvac 24 Plus together with a standard microcentrifuge. The kits do not contain QIAfilter Cartridges, so centrifugation is required for lysate clearing, and use with the QIAvac 24 Plus is recommended for optimal results.

LyseBlue reagent is supplied in a separate vial as an optional visual aid to help prevent handling errors such as inefficient cell lysis or incomplete precipitation. The resulting DNA is of molecular biology grade with low endotoxin levels, making it suitable for automated sequencing, restriction digestion, and transfection of robust cell lines. The kits are intended for molecular biology applications only and are not for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease. Reagents can be stored at room temperature (15–25 °C) for up to 2 years.
