Description

STEMCELL Technologies supplies this small molecule as an NF-κB pathway inhibitor. The compound, with the chemical name 1-fluoro-2-[2-(4-methoxyphenyl) ethenyl]-benzene, has a molecular formula of C₁₅H₁₃FO and a molecular weight of 228.3 g/mol (CAS Number 139141-12-1). It is provided as a crystalline solid with a stated purity of ≥ 97%.

CAY10512 is an analog of Resveratrol reported to be 100-fold more potent at inhibiting NF-κB activation by TNF-α, with an IC₅₀ = 150 nM. Unlike Resveratrol and some other trans-stilbene analogs, it does not exhibit antioxidant activity up to 15 µM in either the ferric reducing/antioxidant power (FRAP) or total radical antioxidant parameter (TRAP) assays. Like Resveratrol, it also inhibits lipopolysaccharide-induced expression of COX-2.

Reported solubility values include ~0.3 mg/mL in 1:2 DMF:PBS (pH 7.2), ~0.5 mg/mL in EtOH, ~2 mg/mL in DMSO, and ~3 mg/mL in DMF. Suggested working concentrations are DMSO ≤ 8 mM and absolute ethanol ≤ 2 mM. The product is stable at -20°C as supplied and should be protected from prolonged exposure to light. Published applications include immunology research demonstrating protection of human islets from instant blood-mediated inflammatory reaction in an in vitro tube model, and disease modeling in which it inhibits induction of NF-κB and upregulation of inflammatory microRNAs in an Alzheimer disease model of human neuronal-glial cells in vitro. For research use only.
