Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is a purified, lyophilized protein powder widely used as a blocking agent, carrier protein, and stabilizer in life science research workflows. STEMCELL Technologies sources this 100 g preparation from New Zealand-origin cattle, a geography recognized as free of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) and foot-and-mouth disease, supporting traceability for cell culture, immunology, and molecular biology protocols.

The powder dissolves readily in aqueous buffers and is routinely incorporated into PBS or TBS at working concentrations between 0.1% and 5% for applications including Western blot blocking, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry washes, and protein stabilization during chromatography or storage of purified enzymes. It also serves as a supplement in mammalian cell culture media, where consistent purity helps minimize lot-to-lot variability in cell growth and antibody production.

Store the lyophilized product in a dry environment at room temperature, protected from light. Reconstituted solutions should be refrigerated and used promptly, or stored frozen in single-use aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles. Each bottle contains 100 g of NZ Origin BSA supplied as a research-grade powder for general laboratory applications.
