Raised in rabbit against the mitochondrial tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase 2 (YARS2) protein, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is validated for Western blot detection across human, mouse, and rat samples. YARS2 is a nuclear-encoded aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase imported into the mitochondrial matrix, where it charges tyrosine onto its cognate tRNA during mitochondrial translation and supports expression of mitochondrially-encoded respiratory chain subunits. Pathogenic variants in YARS2 cause MLASA2 (mitochondrial myopathy, lactic acidosis, and sensorineural hearing loss), so reliable detection of endogenous YARS2 levels is relevant for studies of mitochondrial protein synthesis, OXPHOS biogenesis, and disease modelling. The reagent is supplied as 200 µl per vial and works on cultured mammalian cell lysates as well as skeletal muscle, cardiac, and other tissue preparations. For best results, aliquot upon first thaw, store at -20 °C in working volumes to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and protect from light between uses. Researchers probing mitochondrial translation defects or characterising respiratory chain assembly will find this a focused tool for their workflow.
