The XRCC5 protein, also known as Ku80, is the 80 kDa subunit of the Ku heterodimer that caps broken DNA ends and initiates non-homologous end joining, the dominant pathway for repairing DNA double-strand breaks in mammalian cells. Phosphorylation at threonine 714 lies within the C-terminal domain and has been catalogued as a regulated modification of XRCC5 that changes during the cellular response to genotoxic stress.

This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against a phosphorylated threonine 714 epitope of human XRCC5 and selectively recognises the modified form of the protein. Validated uses include Western blot, where a band near 80 kDa can be detected in cell lysates, and immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed tissue sections, where nuclear staining patterns consistent with damage-associated chromatin compartments can be visualised. Cross-reactivity has been confirmed for the mouse and rat orthologues in addition to human XRCC5, which extends the reagent to comparative studies in rodent injury, ageing, and cancer models.

The antibody is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH approximately 7.2, with 0.05% sodium azide added as a preservative, and is provided as a 100 µl vial. End users can pair the reagent with HRP, biotin, or fluorescent secondary detection chemistries as required by their workflow.
