This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and targets XPA (Xeroderma Pigmentosum complementation group A), a zinc-finger DNA-binding protein central to the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway that removes bulky helix-distorting lesions such as UV-induced cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers and 6-4 photoproducts. The unconjugated reagent is supplied at a 100 µl volume and is validated for western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows against samples of Human, Mouse, and Rat origin.

XPA functions as a damage-recognition scaffold in the NER pre-incision complex, binding distorted DNA and orchestrating the recruitment of downstream repair factors. Because loss-of-function variants in XPA cause Xeroderma Pigmentosum, an inherited photosensitivity disorder with markedly elevated skin cancer risk, this reagent is broadly used to investigate UV-induced DNA damage responses, genome stability, and skin carcinogenesis. Pan-mammalian reactivity enables parallel interrogation of XPA expression and nuclear localization in rodent models and patient-derived tissues, supporting translational work in NER-deficiency syndromes and chemotherapy resistance studies.

Typical applications include profiling XPA protein levels in cultured cell lysates and paraffin-embedded tissue sections, validating gene-editing knockouts, and assessing repair capacity in matched tumor and normal cohorts across multiple species.
