Rabbit polyclonal primary antibody targeting the human XK membrane protein, supplied as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µL vial. Validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on human samples, this reagent is offered by Antibodies.com as part of their Primary Antibodies catalog and is intended for research use only.

XK is a multipass transmembrane transporter expressed primarily on erythrocytes, where it forms a heterodimeric complex with the Kell glycoprotein. The XK-Kell complex anchors Kell at the red cell surface, and loss-of-function mutations in XK cause McLeod syndrome, an X-linked disorder marked by acanthocytosis, reduced Kell antigen expression, and progressive neuromuscular involvement. The antibody is therefore relevant to hematology research, red cell membrane biology, and investigations of the molecular basis of McLeod syndrome.

The polyclonal, unconjugated format allows flexible pairing with secondary detection reagents such as HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondaries, depending on the assay. For best practice, researchers commonly aliquot the vial upon first use to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store working stocks refrigerated while keeping the original vial frozen. Each vial provides enough material for multiple immunoblotting and immunohistochemistry experiments on human tissue sections or cell lysates.
