Raised in rabbit against full-length human VSNL1, this affinity-purified polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as a 200 µL liquid aliquot and recognises endogenous visinin-like protein 1 in human, mouse, and rat samples. VSNL1 (also called VILIP-1) is a 22 kDa member of the neuronal calcium sensor family, with four EF-hand motifs that bind calcium via a calcium-myristoyl switch. The unconjugated format gives laboratories flexibility to conjugate it to their own reporter, and the polyclonal design allows recognition of multiple epitopes on the target.

The antibody is suited to Western blot workflows on brain lysate and to immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded neural tissue, where cerebellum and cortical neurons show strong VSNL1 expression. Peripheral signals for VSNL1 have also been documented in colorectal, gastric, and squamous carcinoma lines, where the protein contributes to apoptosis resistance in Wnt/β-catenin-driven cells, and VILIP-1 levels in cerebrospinal fluid have been reported as a candidate marker of neuronal injury in early Alzheimer's disease by Tarawneh and colleagues. The reagent is supplied affinity-purified (>95% by SDS-PAGE) and is intended for research use only.

Working aliquots should be stored at -20 °C to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and the reagent is supplied in a vial as a 1 mg/mL solution in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. Endogenous VSNL1 runs as a band near 22 kDa on standard SDS-PAGE, and the polyclonal mix is suitable for confirming band identity across species. Researchers investigating neurodegeneration, neuronal calcium signalling, or visinin-like protein biology will find this reagent a versatile tool for western blot and IHC experiments.
