This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets VPS16, the obligate core subunit shared by the CORVET and HOPS tethering complexes that drive membrane fusion along the endolysosomal pathway in mammalian cells. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated 100 µl aliquot, the antibody is validated for two complementary readouts: Western Blot on whole-cell lysates and Immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections. Reactivity is established against the endogenous human VPS16 protein.

VPS16 sits at the heart of both the early-endosomal CORVET and late-endosomal HOPS assemblies, coordinating Rab5- and Rab7-dependent docking steps required for endosomal maturation, autophagosome–lysosome fusion, and lysosomal cargo delivery. Loss-of-function variants in the encoding gene have been associated with rare neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders as well as with mucin granule biogenesis defects, which makes immunological detection of VPS16 useful in cell biology research on membrane trafficking, autophagy, and lysosomal storage disease models.

The antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation in a 100 µl volume and is unconjugated, allowing flexibility in downstream labelling choices for Western Blot or Immunohistochemistry workflows. Standard best practice is to handle small working aliquots to preserve reagent stability across repeated freeze-thaw cycles and protect the vial from light between uses.
