Raised in mouse hosts, this unconjugated monoclonal antibody (clone 1A7) binds the type III intermediate filament protein Vimentin, a well-established marker of mesenchymal cells used to discriminate fibroblasts, endothelial lineages, and stromal populations from epithelial and hematopoietic cells in tissue sections and cultured samples. Validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows, the reagent yields the expected 57 kDa band in immunoblots of whole-cell lysates and produces a characteristic filamentous cytoplasmic staining pattern in formaldehyde-fixed cells. Cross-reactivity has been demonstrated against human, rat, and mouse vimentin, supporting comparative studies of fibroblast biology, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition models, and stromal characterization in development and disease research. Each vial from Antibodies.com is provided at a working volume of 100 µl of liquid stock, sufficient for many blotting rounds and imaging sessions at standard working dilutions. Typical use cases include confirming mesenchymal identity in differentiating stem cell cultures, tracking EMT phenotypes in cancer cell line panels, and serving as a robust reference signal in multi-label immunofluorescence panels alongside lineage-specific markers.
