Vimentin is a 57 kDa class III intermediate filament protein that maintains cytoplasmic integrity in mesenchymal cells and serves as a canonical biomarker for epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition in cancer biology, wound healing, and stem cell characterization studies. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the VIM gene product and has been validated across three immunodetection platforms: Western blot for protein expression analysis, immunohistochemistry for tissue-section localization, and immunofluorescence for subcellular distribution imaging in fixed cells.

The antibody is raised in rabbit and purified as a polyclonal preparation, which broadens epitope coverage along the vimentin backbone and improves tolerance to minor sequence variation between orthologs. Reactivity has been confirmed against Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting cross-species comparative work in cell-line panels, xenograft tissue, and primary rodent tissue sections. The unconjugated format lets researchers choose their own secondary reporter — HRP for chromogenic Western blot and IHC, or fluorophore-conjugated secondaries for multiplex immunofluorescence panels.

Each vial is supplied at 100 µl volume, sufficient for dozens of Western blot membranes or hundreds of IHC sections depending on working dilution. Keep refrigerated for routine short-term use, and aliquot before freezing to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect the antibody from degradation. The reagent is intended for research use only and supports studies of cytoskeletal remodeling, tumor invasion, fibroblast biology, and developmental patterning where vimentin expression dynamics are informative.
