Vimentin (VIM) is a 57 kDa class III intermediate filament protein that forms part of the cytoskeleton in cells of mesenchymal origin. This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the full-length human VIM sequence and recognizes an epitope conserved across species, supporting detection in human, mouse, and rat samples.

Validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows, the antibody is supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot and is well suited to studies of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), wound healing, fibrosis, and tumor progression. It is routinely used as a mesenchymal marker alongside cytokeratin and E-cadherin panels to characterize carcinoma invasiveness, sarcoma lineage, and circulating tumor cell phenotype, and it supports immunostaining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue as well as cultured cell monolayers.

Researchers studying cytoskeletal remodeling, neural crest development, and cardiac or hepatic injury models also rely on this reagent for tracking fibroblast activation and stromal responses. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the vimentin molecule, which can improve signal robustness in tissues where the target is expressed at moderate levels or partially masked by fixation conditions.
