Antibodies.com supplies this Anti-VIL1 Antibody as a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against Villin-1, a calcium-regulated actin-bundling protein of the intestinal and renal brush border. The unconjugated antiserum is provided in a 100 µl volume and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human samples. In gastrointestinal pathology research, VIL1 is widely used to confirm intestinal differentiation and to identify intestinal metaplasia in gastric and esophageal biopsies, and the protein is also a useful marker of microvillar integrity in studies of epithelial barrier function. The polyclonal format increases the chance of detecting multiple epitopes on the ~92.8 kDa target, which is helpful when working with formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded sections where epitope masking is common. For storage, aliquot on arrival and keep at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles that can degrade IgG activity. Intended for research use only.
