Villin 1 (VIL1) is a calcium-regulated actin-binding protein concentrated in the brush border of intestinal epithelial cells, where it organizes the actin core of microvilli and supports enterocyte morphology. The Antibodies.com Anti-VIL1 polyclonal reagent is a rabbit host, unconjugated primary antibody raised against this target and supplied as 100 µl of antiserum. It is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) on Human, Mouse, and Rat samples, supporting cross-species studies of gastrointestinal epithelial differentiation, crypt–villus organization, and the lineage classification of adenocarcinomas of digestive tract origin. The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition, which helps when probing formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded GI biopsies where epitope masking can limit detection, and the unconjugated formulation allows researchers to pair the antibody with their preferred HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary detection system. Documented applications include profiling VIL1 distribution along the intestinal epithelium of rodent tissue sections, confirming enterocyte identity in organoid and epithelial cell culture models, and characterizing primary versus metastatic tumors in human pathology archives.
