Anti-VE-Cadherin Antibody

VE-Cadherin (also called CDH5 or cadherin-5) is a calcium-dependent transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates homophilic adhesion between endothelial cells and is central to vascular barrier integrity, angiogenesis, and the regulation of vascular permeability. Because of these roles it is a widely used marker in cardiovascular, tumor-vascularization, and inflammation research.

The Antibodies.com Anti-VE-Cadherin Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against this endothelial cadherin and validated for Western blot detection in both human and mouse samples. It is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, and is packaged as a 100 ul aliquot that can be diluted directly into standard WB workflows.

Typical research uses include tracking endothelial junctional remodeling in cultured primary endothelial cells, profiling cadherin expression during angiogenic sprouting assays, and monitoring vascular changes in models of atherosclerosis, sepsis-associated vascular leak, and diabetic endothelial dysfunction. Cross-reactivity with both human and mouse VE-cadherin allows direct comparison between patient-derived samples and murine vascular tissue lysates within a single laboratory workflow.

For handling, the glycerol-containing stock should be stored at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and thawed aliquots kept briefly at 2-8 °C during use. Sodium azide in the buffer is incompatible with live-cell or in vivo labeling steps, so the reagent is intended for lysate-based assays such as Western blot.
