Voltage-Dependent Anion Channel 1 (VDAC1) is the most abundant outer mitochondrial membrane protein and acts as the principal channel for ATP, ADP, ions, and metabolites crossing the mitochondrial outer membrane. This recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com binds VDAC1 with high specificity across human, mouse, and rat samples, making it a reliable reagent for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows in basic and translational research. The antibody is provided as 100 µl of unconjugated protein in TBS buffer (pH 7.4) with 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative, and is applied to immunoblotting of whole-cell or mitochondrial-enriched lysates as well as chromogenic and fluorescent staining of formalin-fixed tissue sections. VDAC1 serves as a routine mitochondrial loading control alongside COX IV and citrate synthase, and is itself a target of interest in apoptosis research, cancer metabolism, neurodegeneration, and studies of mitochondrial dysfunction. To preserve activity, refrigerate on receipt, aliquot working stocks, and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. For research use only.
