This unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit against human Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1 (VCAM1, also designated CD106), an inducible immunoglobulin-superfamily glycoprotein expressed on activated endothelium where it mediates adhesion of leukocytes expressing the α4 integrins VLA-4 and α4β7. The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, a glycerol-rich formulation that protects the protein through freeze-thaw cycles and supports long-term storage at -20 °C. Validated for western blot on human samples, the reagent recognizes the full-length cell-surface form, which migrates near 100–110 kDa in reducing SDS-PAGE gels, allowing clear separation from background bands in lysates of cytokine-stimulated endothelial cells. Researchers studying inflammatory recruitment, atherogenesis, allograft rejection, and tumor microenvironment signaling routinely probe VCAM1 induction by TNF-α or IL-1β with this antibody to confirm endothelial activation in primary culture models and tissue extracts. The polyclonal format broadens epitope coverage across the extracellular region of VCAM1, and the unconjugated presentation allows direct integration with HRP-, biotin-, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary detection chemistries as needed.
