VCAM1 (Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule 1, CD106) is an immunoglobulin-superfamily glycoprotein expressed on activated endothelium, where it binds leukocyte integrin VLA-4 to mediate firm adhesion and transmigration during inflammation. Upregulated VCAM1 is widely studied as a marker of endothelial activation in atherosclerosis, rheumatoid synovium, transplant rejection, allograft vasculopathy, and tumor angiogenesis, and is a frequent readout in cytokine-stimulated HUVEC and HMEC culture models.

This Antibodies.com reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against the human VCAM1 extracellular domain, supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µl aliquot. It is validated for Western blot detection, where the target typically migrates around 100–110 kDa depending on glycosylation and the reducing conditions of the SDS-PAGE gel. End users commonly probe TNF-α- or IL-1β-treated endothelial whole-cell lysates to confirm induction, and the polyclonal format helps tolerate minor epitope variation across splice isoforms. Storage at -20°C in working aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw damage, and the 50% glycerol buffer keeps the solution liquid at -20°C for convenient bench handling. The product is intended for research use only and is not validated for diagnostic procedures.
