VCAM1 (also known as CD106) is a ~110 kDa type I transmembrane sialoglycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily, induced on vascular endothelial cells by pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-α and IL-1β. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised against the human VCAM1 extracellular domain and is supplied as a 100 µl vial at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, which protects the antibody from repeated freeze-thaw events during routine handling.

The antibody recognizes VCAM1 in human, mouse, and rat samples and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry. VCAM1 mediates leukocyte rolling, firm adhesion, and transmigration across the vascular wall, making this reagent relevant to studies of atherosclerosis, allograft rejection, inflammatory bowel disease, tumor cell extravasation, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.

Store the vial at -20°C in working aliquots and protect from light. For immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections, antigen retrieval in citrate buffer at pH 6.0 is recommended, while for western blot, lysates prepared in reducing Laemmli buffer and separated on 8% SDS-PAGE gels produce bands near the expected 100-110 kDa region.
