Vasodilator-Stimulated Phosphoprotein (VASP) is an actin-associated scaffolding protein that links cyclic-nucleotide signaling to cytoskeletal remodeling, and this rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com was raised against a synthetic peptide epitope positioned around amino acid 157 of the human sequence. Residue 157 lies within a region of VASP known to undergo regulatory phosphorylation by cAMP- and cGMP-dependent kinases, a modification that alters VASP's subcellular localization and its interactions with partner proteins of the Ena-VASP family.

Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF) and shows reactivity with human and rat VASP. Under standard reducing SDS-PAGE conditions, VASP migrates as a doublet at approximately 46 kDa and 50 kDa, reflecting the two isoforms expressed from the same gene by alternative translation initiation. For immunofluorescence, the reagent is applied to paraformaldehyde-fixed cells or cryosections, where it reports on focal adhesion, lamellipodial, and platelet marginal-band localization depending on the cell type under study.

Common applications include studies of vasodilator signaling, platelet activation, endothelial barrier function, cell migration, and actin-based motility, where the antibody is used to track VASP distribution and how it responds to stimuli such as forskolin, prostacyclin, or nitric oxide donors. The unconjugated format leaves the reagent compatible with HRP, fluorophore, and biotin secondary reagents chosen by the end user. Storage at -20 °C in working aliquots is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the polyclonal antiserum.
